Exodus 5:1-23
One of the kindnesses of married life is the discovery that you have a partner who cares about what is happening in your life. For example, when I’ve told my spouse about important upcoming meetings, she has talked it through with me, prayed for me, and afterward asked me, ‘how did the meeting go? Moses and Aaron’s first meeting with Pharaoh started out with a bold request. “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.’” They must have thought that it was a fair and just request from an authoritative Lord. Pharaoh did not.
